The City of Urbana has announced that one lane of South Main Street will be closed in various locations on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, beginning between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. as crews conduct storm damage cleanup.
The lane shifts will take place along South Main Street between Water Street and Lewis B. Moore Drive, also known as State Route 55. The work will require traffic to move through the area in a single lane, with flaggers controlling traffic and directing motorists through the work zone.
This portion of storm damage cleanup is expected to continue throughout the morning and should be completed around 1 p.m., depending on work conditions and progress.
Drivers traveling through the area should expect possible delays and changing traffic patterns while crews are working. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, follow the directions of flaggers, and use caution around workers and equipment.
The City of Urbana is asking motorists to plan accordingly and allow extra time when traveling on South Main Street Tuesday morning.
