George Pequignot, Jr., of rural DeGraff, received a plaque in recognition of being named the Logan County Veteran of the Year in a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Logan County Fair Pavilion. The ceremony was held in conjunction with a free Senior Citizens’ luncheon that has become an annual feature of the fair.
As previously reported on peakofohio.com, Pequignot was named Veteran of the Year, but was unable to attend the luncheon held at the Friendly Senior Center over the weekend due to a medical issue.
Pequignot, who served in the United States Army in the 1960’s, was humbled by the recognition and reflected on his time in the service, remembering his friends who never made it home:
