A Zanesfield man was arrested on an operating a vehicle impaired (OVI) charge after a traffic stop late Friday night.

According to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers saw a gray Kia make a wide right turn onto South Main Street near Speedway just after 11:30 PM.

The vehicle entered the middle lane instead of the nearest lane, appeared to cross the double yellow line, and was then caught going 36 miles per hour in the 25-mile-per-hour zone on West Sandusky Avenue.

Officers then initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle turned onto Walker Street.

The driver was identified as 52-year-old Anthony Robinson.

As officers spoke with Robinson, they noticed he showed several signs of impairment and could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him and the vehicle.

Then, Robinson was asked to perform field sobriety tests and failed.

At that time, Robinson was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department, where he was asked to submit to a breath test.

Robinson refused the test, resulting in an automatic one-year license suspension.

He was issued citations for speeding and OVI, and then released to a sober driver.
