A Springfield man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges related to incidents involving several children in 2025.
James Boles, 32, of Springfield, pleaded guilty on February 5 to two counts of menacing by stalking and one count of gross sexual imposition stemming from incidents that occurred in July 2025.
The investigation began after a mother contacted deputies when her 14-year-old daughter reported inappropriate behavior by a male identified as Boles. During the investigation, authorities determined two additional children — a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy — were also victims.
According to court records, the charges stem from repeated inappropriate sexual behavior in the presence of the children and inappropriate physical contact involving one of the younger victims. Investigators also determined Boles’ role as the live-in boyfriend of the children’s mother gave him access to the victims.
The court noted the behavior occurred over time and involved grooming-type conduct meant to make the children more comfortable with the inappropriate actions.
Boles was sentenced to four years of community control, similar to probation.
As part of the sentence, he must serve the first 90 days in the Tri-County Regional Jail from March 9 through June 6, 2026, followed by successful completion of the River City Community Based Correctional Facility residential program.
