Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month. Congratulations to Tavien St. Clair and Ava Campbell.
Tavien is the son of Marcus and Patricia St. Clair of Bellefontaine. He is very active in school activities, including Varsity Football, Basketball, Baseball, FCA, Chieftain Backers, BHS Community Service, 1st Team CBC in Football (3 years), 1st Team All-Ohio in Football (1 year), CBC Offensive Player of the Year (2 years), Elite 11 Finalist, Voted Number 1 Player in the Country by Rivals.com, and Academic Awards.
If he were principal for a day he says he would have a flag football tournament. His favorite school memory is making freestyles with his friends in freshman focus class. He credits his parents, family, friends, and coaches for inspiring him. His latest reading adventures involve reading The Bible.
His advice to parents is to encourage kids to speak about the things that make them uncomfortable. His biggest regret is going into work-study class without a job.
Next year, Tavien will be attending the Ohio State University majoring in sports management and playing football.
Ava is the daughter of Stephan and Keri Campbell of Bellefontaine. She is active in the National Honor Society (Social Media Coordinator), Volleyball, Student United Way, DECA, Chieftain Leadership Initiative, Chieftain Leaders (Social Media Coordinator), and Chieftain Backers.
If she were principal for a day, she would let everyone bring their pets to school. Her favorite school memory is being part of the in-school Bellefontaine vs. Indian Lake volleyball match held at BHS during her sophomore year. People who have been an inspiration to her include parents, coaches, and teachers over the years from intermediate school up until now.
Lately, Ava has been reading Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. Her advice to parents is to let your kids be kids. She says, “We’re bound to make mistakes, it’s part of life, but please give us the chance to learn and improve from them. Please be kind and intentional with your words.”
She says her biggest regret is caring what others have to say and letting it affect some of the choices she made early in her high school career.
Next year, Ava will be attending a college close to water in hopes of majoring in business or accounting.
