Jennifer Stanley, Victim Advocate for the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office, was named the 2024 Liz Parker Community Hero Award winner at the Ninth Annual TCN Domestic Violence Awareness ceremony at the Lutheran Community Services building Friday morning. The award, named in honor of former Logan County Victim Advocate Liz Parker, was presented to Stanley at the conclusion of the ceremony by Debbie Brownlee, the Program Manager at the TCN Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Bellefontaine.
In addition, Brownlee presented the Volunteer of the Year Award to local auto service center Wally Wrenchman for their help in providing inspection and repair services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Stanley discusses the awards that were presented:
Also recognized for their work were runners-up Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Ryan Brown and Director of the Logan County Recovery Zone Kathy Zeller for the Community Hero Award and the Logan County Piece Makers and Peak Propane/P. Allen Properties were both honored for their local volunteer work.
In her remarks, Brownlee told the audience that from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, the State of Ohio reported 114 fatalities from 85 cases of reported Domestic Violence. Those killed included both victims and perpetrators as well as one citizen who offered to assist the victim.
