The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Village of Huntsville are partnering to complete repairs to State Route 117 following the discovery of a sinkhole beneath the roadway.
Village officials met with ODOT representatives yesterday to coordinate the repair plan. According to both agencies, construction work is scheduled to begin today, Thursday, January 22, during daytime hours, weather permitting.
Officials expect both lanes of State Route 117 to reopen by Friday afternoon or evening once repairs are completed.
In a public notice, Huntsville Mayor Micheal Hyder said the village is working closely with ODOT to address the issue while prioritizing public safety and minimizing disruptions to traffic.
“We appreciate the collaboration between our Street Department and ODOT officials in developing a plan of action that prioritizes safety while allowing the roadway to reopen as efficiently as possible.”
Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area and seek alternate routes while crews complete the necessary repairs. Officials note that the construction timeline is dependent on weather conditions and could change if conditions worsen.
