Motorists traveling through Urbana should expect minor delays as a resurfacing project on State Route 55 gets underway.
According to city officials, A&B Asphalt Corporation, working as a contractor for the Ohio Department of Transportation, is expected to begin work as early as Friday, June 19. The project covers State Route 55 between U.S. Route 68 South and Urbana’s southwestern corporation limits.
Initial work will involve removing existing raised pavement markers, commonly known as reflectors, and completing related patching in preparation for resurfacing operations.
The City of Urbana’s cost share for the project is $92,392.25.
Officials said traffic will be maintained during construction with the assistance of flaggers. The contractor is expected to fully mobilize and begin major resurfacing work by the end of June.
The project is scheduled for completion by August 31, 2026.
