Saturday evening officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to a suspicious vehicle report.

A witness told dispatch that a vehicle was sitting in the middle of the road on Caroline Street.

Officers caught up with the vehicle as it turned onto Chillicothe Avenue.

Initiating a traffic stop, officers found the driver to be Abigail Williams, 34, of Columbus.

She provided registration for the black Hyundai to the officers.

Williams’ eyes were bloodshot, however, she did not show any other signs of intoxication.

As officers were speaking to each other, a vehicle approached them.

A woman got out and told officers that the vehicle looked like it belonged to her in-laws and that they had just reported it stolen from downtown.

Dispatch then reported the car theft to officers.

The owner’s name matched the registration of the Hyundai that Williams was driving.

Williams was placed under arrest for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and transported to the Logan County Jail.

The vehicle was released to the owner.
