Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month.

Congratulations to Chloe Stolly and Mason Swisher.

Chloe Stolly is the daughter of Terry and Cindy Stolly of Bellefontaine.

Future plans: Attend college and study pre-law.

School activities and awards: Varsity Soccer (Senior Captain), Varsity Cheerleading, Orchestra, National Honor Society, Chieftain Leaders, Yearbook, Ohio Governor’s Scholar, National AP Scholar, and Academic Booster Awards (x3).

If I were principal for a day: I would make phones legal.

Favorite school memory: The first football game of the season when the cheerleaders got ready together and it was 70 degrees out.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents and my sisters inspire my interests and the importance of my education. Also, my peers demonstrate great academic strength and provide a sense of competition and simultaneous support.

Lately I’ve been reading: Political Order and Political Decay by Francis Fukuyama and 1984 by George Orwell.

My advice to parents: Support your kids’ interests while also emphasizing the value of intellectual curiosity. It’s better for a kid to be socially adaptive and aware than sheltered and inept.

My biggest regret: Taking an online chemistry class my sophomore year.

Where I see myself in 5 years: I will have graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in political science. I will be either starting law school or finishing my first year of it. I’m not sure about what else I will be doing or where I will be, but hopefully in a place I love.

Mason Swisher is the son of Joel Swisher and Staci Miller of Bellefontaine.

Future plans: Attend college and earn a degree in band instrument repair and fabrication.

School activities and awards: Robotics State Qualifier (x6) and Worlds Qualifier (x1), Symphonic Band, Symphonic Choir, GSA President, Envirothon, Interact, Newspaper Co-Editor, and French Club Vice President.

If I were principal for a day: I would let everyone have a free day to just pursue their interests.

Favorite school memory: With so many memories from BHS it’s hard to narrow it down to one, but I would have to say when I saw the cast list for Mamma Mia! and I was cast as Harry Bright.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My mom, Mr. Henry (Choir), and Mrs. Rivon (Band).

Lately I’ve been reading: The Perfect Marriage with plans to read the sequel The Perfect Divorce (a murder mystery series).

My advice to parents: Support your kids in their interests; as long as they are not harmful to themselves or others, let them be creative and enjoy exploring their interests.

My biggest regret: Not getting involved sooner in clubs, activities, and other events that I had the chance to.

Where I see myself in 5 years: Ideally, I will have graduated from Minnesota State College Southeast, Red Wing Campus, with a degree in band instrument repair and fabrication. I hope to be employed by a repair shop and learning more about the field and/or to be employed by a band, such as a marching band like OSU Marching Band, BGSU Marching Band, etc.
