Logan County Sheriff’s deputies handled two crashes Monday morning.

Just before 11 a.m., a 2015 Hyundai Elantra driven by 25-year-old Vanessa Rengel of Bellefontaine failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Township Road 179 and County Road 10.

Her vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 2024 Ford F-550 driven by 42-year-old Christopher Adams of McKinney, Texas.

The impact spun Rengel’s car 180 degrees, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Rengel was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign, and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., 63-year-old Brenda Kauppinen of Quincy drove her 2021 Honda Pilot off the right side of the road on a curve in the 5000 block of State Route 540, hitting a ditch.

Authorities say illness played a role in the crash.

Kauppinen was not injured and was not cited, but her vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.
