A man was taken into custody late Saturday night after a domestic dispute escalated at a home on Elizabeth Street in Belle Center.
Deputies with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to the home around 10:30 p.m. after a woman reported that Zachary Sumner, 31, was throwing things inside the house and had punched a hole in the wall during an argument.
Deputies say the victim told them that Sumner had damaged property but had not physically assaulted her.
They noticed that both parties appeared to be intoxicated.
At that point, no charges were filed.
However, shortly after deputies left them home, they were called back after a second 911 call came from the same location.
This time, the victim reported that Sumner had slapped her during a confrontation.
When deputies returned, Sumner admitted to physical contact but claimed it was unintentional and happened while trying to block the victim from spitting on him.
Sumner was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Logan County Jail without incident.
