Two drivers were charged with operating a vehicle under the influence following separate traffic stops in the City of Urbana on Sunday, January 18, according to reports from the Urbana Police Division.

In the first incident, officers stopped a gray Jeep on Scioto Street at approximately 12:35 a.m. after observing the vehicle traveling approximately 50 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.

The driver was identified as Annie Tullis of Cincinnati, who was found to be driving under a non-compliant license suspension.

Officers reported detecting the odor of alcohol and conducted standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment. An open and empty alcoholic beverage can, and a small bottle of vodka were found inside the vehicle.

Tullis refused a breath test at the police station and was cited for OVI, driving under a non-compliance suspension, and speeding. She was later released to a sober driver.

In a second incident earlier that morning at approximately 2:39 a.m., officers stopped a white Toyota on South Main Street after observing a marked lane violation.

The driver, Ryleigh Johns, told officers she was coming from a local bar. After failing field sobriety tests, Johns submitted to a preliminary breath test showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.230 percent. A subsequent test at the police station registered 0.214 percent.

Johns was charged with OVI and a marked lane violation and was later released to a sober driver.

Both cases remain pending in court.
