The Logan County Agricultural Society (LCAS) met Wednesday evening to discuss the future of the Logan County Fairgrounds and several other topics.
The senior fair board is asking for the public’s opinion on what they would like to see happen on the grounds in the future. They are seeking suggestions for updates, entertainment options, revenue options, and much more.
Although the fairgrounds are operated by the LCAS, it is owned by the Logan County Commissioners. The Commissioners have asked the LCAS to come up with a future plan for the property. The plan will include both short-term and long-term goals for the property and its events.
LCAS Board President, Rick Thomas explains:
Please leave your comments and suggestions for the LCAS in the comments of this story.
Other topics at the meeting included, an update about the hopeful hiring of a 4-H educator that is set to begin May 1, 2023. Logan County has been without a 4-H Educator for a few months, and this will make the third educator within the county in the last five years.
The LCAS is seeking donations for sponsorships for Jr. & Sr. Fair awards. You can contact the LCAS at (937)599-4178 to participate. Sponsorships start as low as $25.
A community barn sale & food truck rally is scheduled for Saturday, June 24th from 9 AM to 5 PM at the fairgrounds. Community members can rent a booth space inside or outside for just $5. You can get full details on their Facebook Event Page at: https://fb.me/e/zIC5A972
Lastly, the group approved an insurance rider of $750 to allow the calf scramble to be a continued part of the Logan County Fair. The scramble is a large part of the tradition of the fair, and the company that puts on the scramble recently changed its policy, requiring the LCAS to carry accidental insurance.
