It was a beautiful evening for a graduation ceremony where 125 students walked across the stage as they became the newest graduates of the Indian Lake High School.

The graduation speaker was Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

The Governor told the students how impressed he is with their resiliency.

Governor Mike DeWine spoke to the Class of 2025 about resilience:

He quoted both former Ohio State Coach and current Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and former Ohio State Coach Woody Hayes in his speech, citing the students’ hard work and ability to rise after a fall.

He told the class, “Your greatest days and your greatest impact are, in fact, ahead of you, but only if you believe that they are!”

Prior to the ceremony, Governor DeWine met with the families of Class of 2025 members Nolan Park and Chloe Hodge, who both passed after tragic automobile accidents last school year.

“While nothing will ever fill the void that they have left in the Class of 2025, Chloe and Nolan will be forever remembered, for they have touched the lives of every person here.”

He also went on to say Indian Lake is special:

Class of 2025 President Czar Dickson recapped their high school years from the bad times to the good.

Dickson remarked, “As we look back and remember all the heartbreak and sadness, it is impossible to overlook the resilience, strength, and support this community has shown.”

Class President Czar Dickson spoke to his class:

Photos of Nolan Purk and Chloe Hodge flanked the stage where graduates received their diplomas. Nolan’s mother and Chloe’s mother were each presented diplomas on their child’s behalf and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Before each member of the class received their diploma, the Top 10 scholars were announced.

They are: (10) Emma Meyer, (9) Caleb Altstaetter, (8) Kenzie Dixon, (7) Cameron Freyhof, (6) Haylee McCafferty, (5) Laila Lynch,  (4-Salutatorian) Svea Martini,  (1-Valedictorian) Czar Dickson, (1-Valedictorian) Kailin Fauley, (1-Valedictorian) Adeline Robinson and (1-Valedictorian) Cambria Tuttle.

Once the ceremony was complete, the graduates threw their caps in the air and posed for pictures with family and friends.

Congratulations, ILHS Class of 2025!
