The West Liberty-Salem Board of Education met Wednesday night and approved several key purchases as construction continues on the district’s new fieldhouse, with the project now entering a critical interior phase.

Work inside the building is now centered on installing the infrastructure that will make the facility fully functional, including network systems, communication equipment, and utilities. In total, the board approved over $234,000 in fieldhouse-related projects. That includes updated network equipment, extensive cabling to support the building’s systems, public address speakers, clocks, and scoreboards, and a new track surface that will also include field event areas.

A portion of the technology costs will be reimbursed through E-Rate funding, helping offset the overall cost, while the remaining balance will be covered through district project funds.

Visually, the project continues to take shape as painting and finishing work is underway throughout the facility. The district is still targeting a July 1 completion date as crews continue to make steady progress.

In other business, the board approved $10,525 in donations, including:

  • Global Crafts (After-Prom)

  • CoJack Lumber (Wrestling)

  • WLS Athletic Boosters (Restricted Misc.)

  • West Liberty Lions Club (Show Choir)

  • James White & Margaret Piatt (In memory of Vivian Evans)
