Tingley crowned Benjamin Logan Spelling Bee champion

On Wednesday, Benjamin Logan Middle School announced its spelling bee champion.

Eighth-grader John Tingley, son of Jason and Jacqueline Tingley, won the competition after 19 rounds, spelling “Apocalypse” correctly.

Sixth-grader Avah Berry, daughter of Keith and Rebecca Berry, finished as runner-up.

The event was organized by 5th-grade teacher Bobby Gill, with Assistant Principal Deepika Scheiderer as pronouncer and Samantha Gessler and Sally Stolly as judges.

John and Avah will represent the school at the Logan County Spelling Bee on Monday, January 13, at 6 PM at the Holland Theatre.
