Tipple honored with OHSAA Southwest District Media Service Award

Local broadcasting legend Bill Tipple has been honored with the OHSAA Southwest District Media Service Award, recognizing nearly three decades of dedicated coverage of Logan County athletics.

The award was presented recently during a special ceremony at Xavier University, where Tipple was celebrated for his impact on local sports journalism and youth engagement.

Tipple’s voice had been a trusted presence on area airwaves for years, most notably during his long career at WPKO Radio, where he became a household name.

Today, he is the Communications Director for Bellefontaine City Schools, where he also mentors students in the WBCS broadcasting program.

Known for his passion, integrity, and deep connection to the community, Tipple has consistently gone beyond the scoreboard to tell many stories around the area for years.
