Top educators honored at Ohio Hi-Point

The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center recently recognized its top graduating seniors and the educators who made a lasting impact on their educational journeys.

The annual Top 15 Seniors Honored Educator Recognition Ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 6, at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.

The event gives graduating seniors the opportunity to recognize a teacher, mentor, family member, or educator who influenced and supported them throughout their academic careers. Before the ceremony, students, educators, and families gathered for desserts and refreshments.

The following students and honored educators were recognized:

  • Emilie Alcorn, an Animal Science senior from Graham, recognized Brooke Sizemore, her Animal Science instructor.
  • Joel Brooks, a Welding and Fabrication senior from Riverside, recognized Eddie Noble, his Work-Based Learning teacher and boss at NTC Metalworks.
  • Michael Bowsher, a Welding and Fabrication senior from Marysville, recognized Mark Barger, his Welding and Fabrication instructor.
  • Josie Calhoon, a Cosmetology senior from Marysville, recognized Ginger Shellenberger, her Cosmetology instructor.
  • Valeria Gonzalez Sut, a Culinary Arts senior from Kenton High School, recognized Chef Louie Ortega, her Culinary Arts instructor.
  • Ivy Hatfield, a Health Careers Academy senior from Graham, recognized Holly Walden, her mother.
  • Eugenia Mata Trujillo, a Health Careers Academy senior from Marysville, recognized Nelson Matta and Patricia Trujillo, her parents.
  • Paige McComas, a Spa Technology senior from Bellefontaine, recognized Rachel Schroeder, her school counselor.
  • Danna Salgado Mora, a Health Careers Academy senior from Marysville, recognized Tammy Newland, her Health Careers Academy instructor.
  • Olivia Newland, an EMT senior from Ridgemont, recognized Benjamin Brockway, her Criminal Justice instructor.
  • Zoey White, a Health Careers Academy senior from Graham, recognized Megan Lacher, her Health Careers Academy instructor.
  • Bailey Barnes, a Health Careers Academy senior from Waynesfield-Goshen, recognized Morgan Kaufman, her mother.
  • Makenzie Hopkins, a Health Careers Academy senior from Upper Scioto Valley, recognized Jonathan Hartman, her band director at USV.
  • Kylinn Powell, a Cosmetology senior from Marysville, recognized Ginger Shellenberger, her Cosmetology instructor.
  • Tylor Shinkle, an Engineering Academy senior from Indian Lake, recognized Brian Sutton, his teacher from Indian Lake.

Ohio Hi-Point’s Convocation Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. at Bellefontaine High School. The ceremony will be a ticketed event this year.
