Tradition continues as livestock scramble returns to Logan County Fair

The grandstand was packed with cheering families Wednesday evening as one of the Logan County Fair’s most anticipated traditions returned—the annual Livestock Scramble.

Children and young adults took to the arena in three different events, chasing chickens, wrestling sheep, and haltering calves in front of an enthusiastic crowd. While the chicken scramble focused on fun for the youngest fairgoers, the sheep and calf scrambles rewarded speed, teamwork, and determination as competitors raced against the clock.

The evening began with the always-popular Chicken Scramble, where children ages 2-8 entered the arena to catch as many chickens as possible and return them to the pen. Although the event is not timed or scored, it remains a crowd favorite as dozens of youngsters experience the excitement of stepping into the arena for the first time.
