UPDATE: Crash Temporarily Closes State Route 117 Thursday

UPDATE:

An 18-year-old Bellefontaine man was involved in a rear-end collision on State Route 117 near Duff Quarry on Thursday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Mark Runkle, of Bellefontaine, was traveling northbound when he collided with the vehicle of Randy Miller, 58, of DeGraff, who was also heading north. The crash occurred on a stretch of road near the quarry.

Runkle sustained minor injuries in the incident and was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol cited Runkle for failing to maintain an assured clear distance.

As a result of the collision, the roadway was temporarily closed while first responders and tow services cleared the scene.

A two-vehicle crash closed State Route 117 near Duff Quarry outside of Huntsville Thursday morning, just after 7:00 a.m.

The roadway was closed for approximately 30 minutes while emergency crews responded to the scene.

As of now, no additional details have been released, and the accident remains under investigation.
