Thursday morning, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on US 33 near Township Road 95 due to a speeding violation.
The driver, William Dolan III, 30, of Marysville, initially denied having any illegal items in the vehicle but admitted to having a small amount of marijuana, which he believed to be legal. When asked for permission to search the vehicle, William initially declined but later consented upon being informed that a K9 unit was en route.
Kalob Douglas, 24, of Kenton, was identified as a front-seat passenger, and both individuals exited the vehicle as requested. Upon searching, officers found a small baggie of suspected marijuana in the center console, which appeared to be within legal limits. However, multiple open containers of alcoholic beverages were discovered on the rear left driver-side floorboard, including an open and nearly empty bottle of Crown Royal whiskey, a full bottle of vodka, and an empty can of vodka.
Both Dolan and Douglas informed officers that they were on probation through Logan County.
William received a citation for speeding and a summons for having an open container in a motor vehicle.
