A traffic stop in Lakeview early Sunday morning ended with a Piqua man being arrested.
Just after midnight, a driver was pulled over for speeding near the intersection of State Route 235 and State Route 366.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old James Daniel, seemed nervous and repeatedly said he was going to a friend’s house.
Deputies at the scene reported smelling both a strong sweet odor and burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
While speaking with Daniel, a phone call came through the car’s Bluetooth.
The contact was saved under the name “Bag Man,” and a male voice could be heard saying, “He’s going to catch a felony,” which raised more suspicion.
Daniel then agreed to perform field sobriety tests and showed no signs of being impaired.
He permitted deputies to search his vehicle, and they found several orange pills inside.
While being placed in handcuffs, Daniel tossed a small white pill into the grass nearby.
That pill was later identified as Percocet, a prescription pain medication.
Daniel then told deputies that the orange pills were Adderall.
He was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail, where he faces charges for possession of drugs and tampering with evidence.
