A man was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital after police found him heavily intoxicated after a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in Bellefontaine.

Police were called just before 3:00 AM to the 600 block of North Detroit Street after a vehicle hit three parked vehicles and left the scene.

The vehicles hit were a Chevrolet Equinox, a Chrysler Town and Country, and a Honda CR-V.

A witness told officers he heard the first crash and then saw the vehicle strike another car before leaving the area.

Officers followed a trail of fluid from the crash scene to North Madriver Street, where they found the damaged vehicle parked behind a home.

The vehicle had heavy front-end damage and was missing its front passenger-side tire.

The vehicle was registered to Hunter Pride, 31, of Dayton.

Police later found Pride at a nearby home after the homeowner reported that he had arrived there, stumbled inside, and passed out.

Officers said Pride appeared heavily intoxicated.

Pride had to be carried to a medic and taken to Mary Rutan Hospital.

Police found the keys to the vehicle on Pride and also released his personal belongings to a friend.

At the hospital, Pride refused to provide a blood sample and denied driving the vehicle or being involved in the crash.

Police issued Pride a citation and advised him of a mandatory court appearance Wednesday, October 7, at 9 a.m.

The citation was later amended to include failure to control.

Police also learned Pride had another alcohol-related case scheduled for court the following day.
