Champaign County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call on Monday when a tractor pulling a trailer with 700 gallons of Round Up slipped off the road on State Route 296 in Salem, tipping the trailer over, and spilling its contents.
According to reports, 47-year-old Jeremiah Walton of West Jefferson was driving his tractor along State Route 296 when he pulled to the side to allow vehicles to pass him. Unfortunately, Walton pulled over too far, and the trailer went off the shoulder of the road, causing the liquid inside to shift weight and make the trailer roll into a nearby field.
Urbana Fire, Ohio EPA, and Champaign County EMA all responded to the incident. There are no reported injuries from the accident, and no environmental damage was done. The trailer was damaged in the tip-over and was towed from the scene.
