Wednesday afternoon, a semi and a train collided in Mt. Victory.
The semi-driver, Richard Lavander, of Ontario, Canada, was northbound on State Route 31 when he went around the railroad barricade, seeing one train stopped, but not noticing that there were two sets of tracks.
A CSX train on the second set of tracks hit the semi, separating the tractor from the trailer.
The engine of the train drug the tractor upwards of a 1/4 mile before stopping.
Hardin County Sheriff, Keith Everhart, says Lavander sustained minor injuries, however, was alert and walking around after the accident.
He was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The train was not derailed and only suffered minor damage to the engine.
Hazmat is on scene due to a minor diesel spill from the semi-tractor.
Lavander was cited for disobeying a railroad crossing device.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
