Triad board examines report card results, sets goals for improvement

The Triad Local Schools Board of Education held an open work session this week to review recent report card data and discuss updates to the district’s focus plan. The meeting also featured multiple recognitions, new staff and coaching appointments, and generous community donations.

In the latest state report card, Triad Local Schools earned a 3.5. Points of emphasis regarding the report card were each school’s ongoing plan to improve the district’s progress ratings and the strengths and weaknesses within every building.

Superintendent Vickie Maruniak gives more information on the report card meeting and highlights the importance of the SPARK program for the district’s focus plan.

The Board honored several individuals for their outstanding contributions to the district.

  • Staff Members of the Month: Jeremy Stokes, Nicole Hanes, SheaLea Lockschmidt, Maggie Parcels, Lucy Sams, Vinnie Spirko, Norma Bottom, Chase Wedding, Emily Dixon, and Hanna DeLong.

  • Community Members of the Month: David McGuire, Clint Groves, and Mark Reid were recognized for their continued support and involvement in Triad programs.

  • Student of the Month: The Board congratulated Ray Cremeans for his accomplishments and representation of Triad’s student body.

Personnel Updates
Jill Brown was approved for a Reading Intervention position.
The Board also approved several coaching and extracurricular appointments for the 2025–2026 school year:

  • Wrestling (Middle School) – Bailey Eberhart
  • Bowling (Head Coach, Boys) – Jessica Black
  • Wrestling (Head Coach, Boys) – Tim Deady
  • Basketball (Assistant) – Luke Donohoe
  • Activities Manager (HS, Fall) – Hanna DeLong
  • Basketball (8th Grade, Boys) – Parker Abraham
  • Basketball (7th Grade, Girls) – Nicole Hanes
  • Volleyball (7th Grade) – Lori James (1/6 contract) and Chelsea Adams (1/6 contract)

The Board expressed gratitude for several recent donations supporting district programs:

  • Locust Ridge Flowers & Gifts (Kelly Bails) – Flowers valued at $209 for the Triad Homecoming Court
  • Doug & Barb Moore, Mike & Kathy Funderburgh, and Randy & Teresa Leopard – Each donated $100 to Triad Softball in memory of Rick Wilkins
  • Rex Stapleton – $40 to Triad Middle School Football, also in memory of Rick Wilkins
  • American Legion Auxiliary – $400 for Triad Elementary teacher supplies

The Board thanked all donors for their continued generosity and commitment to Triad students and staff.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held in regular session on Thursday, November 20.
