The Triad Local School District Board of Education met in regular session on Thursday evening, hearing updates from Superintendent Vickie Maruniak and approving recognitions, donations, and student trips.
Maruniak highlighted the upcoming middle school STEAM Night on March 11, describing it as an opportunity for families to explore various career pathways available to students. She also addressed ongoing discussions about property tax issues, noting the district’s efforts to remain proactive as other districts navigate similar financial challenges.
The board recognized multiple staff members for their dedication to the district as Staff Members of the Month: Sarah Hallermann, Lesly Hollar, Chelsea Adams, Josh Holloway, the High School Safety Team (Maggie Parcels, Kacy Moore, Chad Hollar, Lee Claypool, Patrick Johnson, Vinnie Spirko, Tina Campbell, Neil Laughbaum, Jeremy Stokes, Vickie Maruniak, Bryan Dixon, Jenna Robenalt, Cheryl Coleman), Loretta Pullins, Brandi Thomas, Terra Adams, Krystal Longsworth and Holly Feeley.
Alaira Hauck was recognized as Student of the Month.
Board members approved $2,245 in monetary and gift card donations, primarily designated for STEAM(M) Night activities.
The largest contributions included $400 from the Kiwanis Club of Urbana and a $400 gift card from Meijer. The Champaign County Farm Bureau donated $200. The Woodstock Lions Club and Superintendent Vickie Maruniak each contributed $100. Vinnie Spirko donated $60, while Jill Brown and Marie’s Candy each provided $25.
In addition, 48 individuals donated $20 each, totaling $960.
The board also accepted several non-monetary donations. Sharon Walls donated a Jupiter JCP1000 piccolo for the Triad Band Program. Additional in-kind contributions for STEAM(M) Night included two passes from COSI, four passes from the Great Lakes Science Center, and 309 STEM kits from Ohio Hi-Point.
The board approved two overnight trips.
Eighth-grade students will travel to Washington, D.C., October 20–23, 2026, as presented by social studies teacher Seth Collier.
DECA students will attend the state competition in Columbus February 24–25, 2026, as presented by advisor Matt Yoder.
