Triad school board approves bids for new administration building

The Triad Local Schools Board of Education approved the first bids for the construction of a new administration building during its regular meeting on Thursday night.

Board members unanimously approved several agreements for work on the project, which will be built in between existing schools.

Funderburgh Farms & Excavating was awarded two contracts connected to the project. The company will handle general work and labor for the new building with a base bid of $2,311,399, along with a $4,000 alternate bid. Funderburgh will also complete plumbing installation with a base bid of $60,704 and a $500 alternate.

Additional work was awarded to other contractors. Hauck Bros., Inc. received the bid for mechanical work with a base bid of $259,200, while CT Electric was approved for electrical installation with a base bid of $224,500 and an alternate bid of $85,000.

Superintendent Vickie Maruniak commented on the new development.

Staff and team honored

During the meeting, board members also recognized several staff members and coaches.

Danielle Caldwell, a full-time substitute at the middle school, was honored for her professionalism, enthusiasm, and positive presence in the building. Staff members praised Caldwell for creating a welcoming and supportive environment for both students and fellow staff, and for her willingness to step in and help wherever needed.

The board also recognized 7th and 8th grade girls basketball coaches Nicole Hanes and Jamie Millice, along with the team, for a strong season. The team finished as the Ohio Heritage Conference runner-up and advanced to the conference championship game.

Administrators credited the coaches with creating an atmosphere of courage and confidence while making a positive impact on the players both on and off the court.

Personnel changes

The board accepted the resignation of full-time substitute teacher Kristine Milliner.

Several supplemental contracts were also approved, including:

  • Hanna DeLong – High school activities manager (fall)

  • Michelle Hoffman – JV football cheerleading advisor

  • Jessica Wagner – Middle school football cheerleading advisor

  • Niki Smiles – Cross country head coach

  • Amanda Robison – Cross country assistant coach

  • Shalyn Smiles – Cross country assistant coach

  • Erich Hopkins – Football assistant

  • Justin Cain – Football assistant (½)

  • Mychal Cox – Football assistant (½)

  • Easton Huffman – Football assistant (½)

  • Tony Groves – Middle school football coach

  • Camden Hess – Middle school football assistant

  • Kim Staten – Volleyball head coach

  • Justin Staten – Volleyball assistant coach

  • Kim Cushman – 7th grade volleyball coach

  • Jessica Black – Girls golf head coach

  • Billy Narramore – Golf JV coach

College Credit Plus agreements

The board also approved two memorandums of understanding for College Credit Plus (CCP) opportunities for the 2026–2027 school year.

Agreements were approved with Clark State Community College and Edison State Community College to allow Triad students to earn college credit while still in school, in accordance with Ohio’s CCP program guidelines.
