Troopers from the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to two separate injury crashes Wednesday morning in Champaign and Clark counties.

The first crash occurred just after 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 29 and Three Mile Road in Urbana Township.

According to investigators, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Austin Preece, 28, of Urbana, was traveling north on Three Mile Road and stopped at the intersection before continuing through. The Silverado was struck by an eastbound Honda sedan traveling on State Route 29.

The impact caused the Honda to veer off the road into a ditch, while the Chevrolet spun around and came to rest in the roadway. Preece was not injured, while the Honda’s driver was transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital for treatment.

Preece was cited for Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way at a Stop Sign. The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post.

A few hours later, around 10:45 a.m., troopers were called to a single-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of County Line Road in Moorefield Township, Clark County.

The crash involved a 2003 Ford F-150 driven by Sebastian Jensen, 18, of Urbana. According to the report, the truck went off the right side of the roadway and struck multiple trees in a wooded area.

Jensen was treated on scene for possible injuries and was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle.

Both crashes remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield Post.
