Tuesday evening fire contained in Urbana without injury

Fire crews in Urbana responded quickly to a structure fire Tuesday evening, containing the blaze before it could spread and confirming no injuries.

According to the Urbana Fire Division, crews were dispatched at approximately 7:06 p.m. to the 200 block of Windsor Avenue for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, just minutes later, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from a detached structure and upgraded the incident to a working fire.

Firefighters immediately initiated an aggressive attack while also conducting a primary search of the structure. Officials reported the search was negative, confirming no occupants were inside at the time of the fire.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 7:22 p.m., with crews successfully containing the flames to the original structure.

Multiple agencies assisted on scene, including JSP Fire, Mechanicsburg Fire, Urbana Police Division, and West Liberty Fire Department, law enforcement, dispatch, and support services. Additional crews also helped provide station coverage during the incident.

A damage assessment is currently underway, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
