Tuesday night, just after 9:00 PM, Washington Township Police stopped Alex Sheeley, 44, of Bellefontaine, on Township Road 239 near State Route 720 for a turn signal violation and expired registration.

Officers noticed that Sheeley showed signs of intoxication, and although he denied drinking, officers reported smelling alcoholic beverages.

Sheeley then failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI).

He was taken to the Logan County Jail and refused a breath test, and was also charged with expired registration.

Sheeley was later released to a sober driver.
