Another round of intense heat is headed our way, and Logan County is in the hot zone.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Heat Advisory for Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m..
Forecasters say heat index values could hit 101 degrees, making it feel even hotter than what the thermometer shows.
What does that mean for you?
Steamy conditions, sticky air, and potential health risks if you’re not careful.
The National Safety Council says heat is the deadliest weather event in the U.S. every year—more dangerous than floods, tornadoes, or blizzards.
Health experts recommend:
- Drinking lots of water
- Avoiding outdoor work or workouts during peak heat
- Checking on neighbors, especially seniors or those without A/C
Signs of heat exhaustion include:
- Dizziness or nausea
- Headaches
- Excessive sweating
- Weakness or unusual thirst
If any of those symptoms hit, get to a cool place fast, loosen clothing, sip water, and apply cold, wet cloths.
Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will still be hot and humid, but we may catch a break with more clouds and a chance of storms rolling in.
Bottom line: Take it slow, stay cool, and don’t underestimate the heat.
