Wednesday evening, Washington Township Officers were on patrol on State Route 708 near Township Road 61 and stopped a vehicle driven by Patricia Haas, 30, of Lakeview, and occupied by Penny Wilgus, 38, of Rushsylvania, for a marked lanes violation. Two young children were also present in the vehicle.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noticed signs of drug use. Penny Wilgus was asked to exit the vehicle, during which she was observed dropping a pipe used to consume crack cocaine onto the ground. K9 Tega from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was then deployed and indicated the presence of illegal drugs.

A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of crack cocaine and fentanyl in the purses of Patricia Haas and Penny Wilgus. Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail. The Logan County Children’s Services were notified, and the children were subsequently placed in the care of family members.

Penny Wilgus faces charges of possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and child endangering. Patricia Haas is charged with possession of drugs, child endangering, operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), and a marked lanes violation. Both are currently held in the Logan County Jail.
