The Bellefontaine Police Department responded to the 300 block of Seymour Street regarding a female that had been chased by her neighbor’s rooster Tuesday afternoon around 3:30.

Upon arrival, Tawnee Brown reported that she was in her backyard moving bricks when unexpectedly a black rooster attacked her. Brown appeared to have a small bloody laceration on her arm from the incident.

She stated that the rooster, along with multiple other chickens, always run around freely. Brown had previously filed a complaint about the chickens running at large.

Residents at the 400 block of Seymour Street have been charged numerous times for having animals running at large.

Authorities went to the neighbor’s residence and Jaedyn Ford opened the door and stepped outside. Ford explained that she has an enclosed area on the property for the chickens and roosters and lets them out to free range one hour a day.

When asked if her neighbor had been attacked by a rooster, Ford immediately denied that the rooster left their yard.

During the conversation, Ford dropped a burnt metal crack pipe. She quickly picked up the pipe in an attempt to conceal it and denied that it was a crack pipe and said it was a tool. She then stated that it was a tire gauge and she found it while walking down the street at the park.

After authorities gave multiple lawful orders to put the pipe down, she refused and yelled for William Dolan within the residence.

During this time, Ford threw down the crack pipe.

Dolan came outside of the home and started to retrieve the pipe that was on the ground.

Authorities told Dolan multiple times to not touch the pipe and he threw it several feet away. He became belligerent and continued to argue with authorities, along with Ford.

Ford and Dolan walked back into the residence and were given multiple orders to come outside which were refused.

As other officers assisted on the scene, Ford and Dolan were forcefully brought back outside.

They resisted arrest and were forcefully handcuffed and placed in patrol vehicles.

Ford and Dolan were transported to the Logan County Jail.

At the jail, Ford refused to identify herself and was charged with failure to identify, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and having animals running at large.

Dolan was lodged on obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
