Two separate single-vehicle crashes were reported in Champaign County Wednesday, including one that sent a Yellow Springs man to the hospital with possible injuries.
The first crash occurred at approximately 11:32 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, on State Route 296 near mile marker 7 in Wayne Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers from the Springfield post responded to the crash, which involved a 2013 Honda Civic.
The preliminary investigation found the Honda, operated by a 17-year-old juvenile male, was traveling north on State Route 296 when it traveled off the side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.
The juvenile was not injured in the crash. Troopers determined he was at fault and cited him for failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle.
Later that afternoon, at approximately 2:20 p.m., troopers responded to a second single-vehicle crash in the 4500 block of State Route 4 in Mechanicsburg.
The preliminary investigation found that a 2014 Lexus CT, operated by 75-year-old Lawrence McKever of Yellow Springs, was traveling southwest on State Route 4 when it traveled off the right side of the roadway.
The Lexus then struck an embankment and a tree before continuing into a nearby house.
McKever was transported by ground ambulance to Springfield Regional Medical Center with possible injuries. He was determined to be at fault and cited for failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said both crashes remain under investigation by the Springfield post.
No additional information regarding the condition of McKever was immediately available.
