A two-vehicle crash at a rural Champaign County intersection Wednesday afternoon left both drivers with minor injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Springfield Post responded to the collision at approximately 12:33 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 54 and Hickory Road in Urbana Township.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by Scott Deuschle, 59, of Danville, Indiana, was traveling east on East Hickory Grove Road and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of State Route 54.
After stopping, investigators said Deuschle proceeded into the intersection in an attempt to continue east across the highway. At the same time, a 2011 Acura MDX, driven by Jared Knotts, 40, of Urbana, was traveling southwest on state Route 54 toward Urbana Moorefield Road. The Acura struck the Honda as it entered the intersection.
Deuschle suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Troopers determined he was at fault for the crash and issued him a citation for violating the right-of-way rule at a stop sign.
Knotts also sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
No additional injuries were reported, and both vehicles sustained damage in the collision.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
