Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post responded to two separate single-vehicle crashes involving teenage drivers on Wednesday, February 25, in Champaign County.
The first crash occurred on Wednesday morning at approximately 7:07 a.m. on McCarty Road just west of Park Road near Woodstock.
According to the Springfield Post, a 16-year-old female driving a 2015 GMC Terrain was traveling east when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. She was not injured.
Troopers determined she was at fault and cited her for Failure to Maintain Reasonable Control of a Motor Vehicle.
Later that evening, at approximately 8:35 p.m., troopers responded to a second single-vehicle crash on U.S. 36 near mile marker 10 in Mad River Township, west of Urbana.
A 17-year-old male driving a 2020 Honda Accord was traveling west when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a curb and then a utility pole. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Troopers cited him for Failure to Maintain Reasonable Control of a Motor Vehicle.
Both incidents resulted in property damage and are under investigation.
