Louise Norris recently made a surprising discovery in her yard while preparing for the first frost of the season. As she stepped outside to cover her mums, she found her yellow iris in full bloom, with even more buds forming.

“I guess they think it’s spring again! If only it was!” Louise exclaimed. She decided to cut the blooms and place them in a vase with water to enjoy indoors.

Louise isn’t alone; others around Logan County are witnessing similar phenomena.

Carolyn Bernard, who lives just outside Bellefontaine, reported that her lilacs have also started blooming unexpectedly.

In addition, Sue Parson from Huntsville shared that strawberries are sprouting in her backyard, adding to the list of unusual fall blooms.

“It’s baffling to see them in October. I thought they were done for the year!” Sue noted.

These unexpected blossoms raise questions about the effects of fluctuating weather patterns, leaving local gardeners intrigued as they navigate this unusual season.
