Bellefontaine Police arrested a local man on Friday after finding a stolen vehicle connected to a June 25 incident involving unauthorized use and possible drug activity.

According to police reports, officers were first called to a home on East Columbus Avenue, where Brittany Curtis, 37, of Bellefontaine, told officers that her ex-boyfriend, Kareem Williams, 36, of Bellefontaine, had taken her maroon 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 without permission.

Williams allegedly took the truck keys from a table and drove off in the vehicle.

A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued for the truck, and Curtis stated Williams had said he was going to a funeral in Youngstown, though family later confirmed he never arrived.

She also reported that Williams had recently lost his phone and was unreachable.

The case intensified after it was discovered that Williams is on probation.

His probation officer informed police that he had failed to check in as required and requested that he be arrested if found.

Friday evening, officers found the truck parked at the Bellefontaine VFW on Orchard Avenue.

Officers called a tow truck, and during an inventory search, they found a hypodermic needle and tin foil containing suspected heroin residue in the driver’s side visor.

Two IDs belonging to Williams were also found inside, along with a prescription pill bottle in another name containing 30 pills.

Williams appeared at the scene and was immediately arrested for a probation violation and transported to the Logan County Jail.

He is also facing charges including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of drug abuse instruments.
