The Urbana Fire Division is pleased to welcome two new members to its ranks, Probationary Firefighters (PFF) Lawton and Shirk.
Both were sworn in by Mayor Bean and have completed their two-week onboarding program.
PFF Lawton lives in West Jefferson and holds an associate degree in criminal justice. Before attending EMS and fire school at Tolles Career Center, he served as a law enforcement officer. He brings valuable EMS and fire experience from his time with Central Township Fire, Jerome Township Fire, and the City of London. In addition to his professional accomplishments, PFF Lawton is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys spending time with his fiancée.
PFF Shirk resides in the Springfield area and completed his EMS and fire training at Clark State College. He brings valuable experience from his work in Moorefield Township Fire and enjoys outdoor activities in his free time.
PFF Lawton has been assigned to B Shift under the direction of Captain Beverly. PFF Shirk will be serving on C Shift under Captain Countryman.
