The Urbana City Schools Board of Education is moving to fill a vacancy following the resignation of Board President Taylor Armstrong.
Armstrong submitted a formal letter of resignation to the board, notifying members of his decision to step down from his position prior to the completion of his term for personal reason.
In his letter, Armstrong expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the district and work alongside fellow board members, administrators, staff, and the community during his tenure.
His resignation creates an immediate opening on the five-member board. The individual appointed to the seat will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2027.
District officials announced that any qualified elector who resides within the Urbana City School District may apply for the position. Those interested must submit a written letter of interest that includes their name, address, phone number, and an explanation of why they wish to serve on the Board of Education.
Letters must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, and should be addressed to Mandy Hildebrand, Treasurer, Urbana City School District, 711 Wood Street, Urbana, OH 43078. Applications may also be submitted via email to [email protected].
The Board of Education is expected to review submissions and appoint a replacement in the coming weeks to ensure continued leadership and governance for the district.
