The Urbana City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening. They moved quickly through a light agenda, advancing two pieces of legislation.

Members held the third reading of an ordinance, which outlines the city’s appropriations for the 2026 fiscal year. No changes were proposed.

Council also conducted the second reading and public hearing for an ordinance that would repeal and replace the sign ordinances across the city. The update comes with a unanimous recommendation from the Planning Commission. No public objections were raised.

With no additional business, the meeting adjourned after brief procedural actions.

Mayor Bill Bean discusses these ordinances and briefly reflects on the recent Black Friday Christmas Parade.

The council will next meet on Tuesday, December 16, for its final meeting of the calendar year.
