Urbana City Schools names Kai Scott girls’ basketball head coach

The Urbana City School Board met in regular session Tuesday night.

Kai Scott was the headlining name, as the board named him the next girls’ basketball coach.

Scott has been with the program for many years, most recently in a role as an assistant coach. He was even involved in the program when the team won back-to-back state titles in 1992 & 1993.

The Lady Hillclimbers are coming off consecutive 20+ win seasons and have had five straight winning seasons under previous coach Amanda Mounce.

Per recommendations from the superintendent, the following staff changes have been approved:

  • Robin Morgan – Resignation due to retirement
    Effective end of day May 29, 2026
  • Kathryn Zaborowski – Resignation due to retirement
    Effective end of day May 31, 2026

The following trips have been approved for high school wrestling teams:

  • Event: Women of Ironman Tournament
    Location: Cuyahoga Falls, OH
    Dates: December 12–14, 2025

  • Event: OHSAA State Tournament
    Location: Findlay, OH
    Dates: December 19-20, 2025

  • Event: FIGHT Girls Wrestling Tournament
    Location: Columbus, OH
    Dates: March 12-15, 2026
