Firefighters from multiple departments responded early Tuesday morning to a structure fire in Urbana.
The Urbana Fire Division was dispatched around 1:01 a.m. to the 200 block of West Ward Street after reports of a building fire.
Upon arrival, crews reported heavy smoke coming from the structure, and the incident was declared a working fire. Firefighters quickly began attacking the flames, and additional support was called in from surrounding departments.
Water was on the fire shortly after crews arrived, and operations continued throughout the morning. Supporting agencies included local utility services, the Red Cross, and law enforcement.
No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross assisted the occupants with immediate needs.
A damage assessment is currently underway, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
