The Urbana Lions Club recently stepped in to help Urbana Elementary by donating $300 worth of new pants and underwear. School staff had shared that these particular items run out quickly, as they are often needed when young students have accidents during the school day.
After wrapping up their weekly meeting, several Lions members made a trip to the Walmart in Urbana, where they picked out a range of children’s clothing in various sizes. The group then delivered the items directly to the school on Wednesday.
School staff expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that having extra clothing available helps students return to class feeling comfortable and cared for.
Urbana Elementary School principal Melanie Anders says any and all donations help and having people step up for donations really does change the lives of these children.
