An Urbana man was arrested Monday evening for operating a vehicle while under the influence after a traffic stop on State Route 235 North.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were on State Route 235 when they clocked a Chevrolet Trax traveling 57 miles per hour in the 45 MPH zone.

As deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Thomas Rowland, 27, of Urbana, continued northbound for a short distance, eventually stopping near Township Road 293.

When deputies approached the vehicle, Rowland showed several signs of intoxication.

He claimed he was coming from the Indian Lake Moose and had drunk two beers about an hour earlier.

When asked about his condition, Rowland stated, “I’m a tad bit under the weather,” but said he did not feel inebriated.

Rowland declined to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was issued citations for speeding and OVI, and later released to a sober person.
