Keith Smith, 47, of Urbana, faces multiple citations following a single-vehicle crash on State Route 235 South just outside of Quincy on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred shortly before noon when Smith reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.
His 2004 Dodge Caravan veered off the left side of the roadway, crashing into a ditch and then striking a utility pole.
Following the crash, Smith left the scene and went to a nearby family member’s home where he was later located by law enforcement.
Smith was cited for driving with multiple license suspensions and failure to control his vehicle.
The crash led to the closure of State Route 235 South as utility services worked to repair and replace the damaged pole.
The roadway remained closed for some time as AES crews addressed the damage.
