A 77-year-old Urbana man was injured after his vehicle ran off U.S. Route 68 and eventually came to rest in a pond.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Andre Applin was traveling northeast on U.S. 68 near County Line Road in Champaign County at approximately 1:33 p.m. on September 22.
Applin’s vehicle initially ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle then continued across the roadway and ran off the right side, where it struck another ditch, a tree, and two fences before coming to rest in a nearby pond.
Urbana EMS responded to the scene and transported Applin to Mercy Health for suspected injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
