Thursday evening, the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to an injury crash on Columbus Ave near Croft Road in Clark County.
The initial investigation shows that Chad Dyer, a 47-year-old man from Urbana, was driving east on Columbus Avenue when his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Dyer was transported by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Columbus Avenue was closed for about three hours due to the large amount of debris left from the crash.
The crash remains under investigation to determine if alcohol, unsafe speed on wet pavement, and failing to wear a seatbelt were contributing factors to the injury.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Springfield Township Fire Department assisted with the incident.
